At Alpine Animal Hospital, we offer
comprehensive dental services, including assessments, cleanings, dental radiography, tooth extractions, gingival treatments, and oral biopsies. All dental cleanings are performed under general anesthesia, which is far safer for your pet and enables us to provide the most thorough assessment and treatments. We offer modern ultrasonic technology for tooth cleaning both above and below the gumline. In addition to intra-oral examination of your pet’s teeth, we also perform dental radiographs (x-rays) to further evaluate and diagnose dental problems. Two-thirds of each tooth is hidden under the gums, and dental radiographs allow us to identify and properly treat dental disease and infection, making your pet more comfortable and healthy. Following assessment, radiographs, cleaning, and any extractions or other treatments necessary, the teeth are polished smooth and a fluoride treatment applied to strengthen the tooth surface.
Periodontal disease is one of the most commonly diagnosed conditions diagnosed at Alpine Animal Hospital. 85% of dogs and cats have periodontal disease by the age of 5. Poor oral health can affect your pet’s health in many ways, including chronic inflammation and spread of infection to internal organs.
