Cat Friendly Practice Certification

This certification has been earned by only ~2% of veterinary practices nationwide!

Cat Friendly Practices have taken steps to consider each cat's experience and care. All Cat Friendly Practices must meet 130 varied physical and educational requirements to achieve this designation. Alpine Animal Hospital is the only certified Cat Friendly Practice in the region.

Cats-Only Waiting Area & Exam Rooms

Dedicated cats-only examination rooms, separated waiting area in the lobby, and even monthly cats-only evening hours keep felines feeling fine for their visits. Our facility also has separated species-specific boarding and hospitalization wards for our feline friends who stay with us.

Low Stress Gentle Handling Techniques

Our entire veterinary team is trained on what makes our feline patients unique and special. Cat friendly low-stress handling & restraint make veterinary care less stressful for cats and their caregivers, increasing access to routine healthcare.

The Veterinary Visit Starts at Home

Check out this infographic for how to establish your cat's relationship with their carrier early, which will play a role in lowering stress associated with veterinary visits or any other necessary travel for their lifetime. At home, the carrier should remain open & accessible for your cat at all times, with palatable food rewards given to create a positive association.

Success is in the Carrier!

Selecting the right carrier is key to reducing your cat's travel and veterinary-related stress. Be sure the material is sturdy, the size large enough for your cat to fit comfortably, and has a top that is fully removable. A removeable top allows your cat to remain in their carrier base for much of their visit and exam, making them feel more comfortable and secure.
